An electric hob with a dead cooking zone, intermittent controls, poor temperature regulation or an electrical fault does not automatically need replacing.
I repair many traditional solid-plate and ceramic hobs, as well as induction hobs where the fault can be economically repaired and suitable parts remain available.
My approach is straightforward: test the hob properly, identify the cause of the fault and only replace parts that are actually required. With more expensive induction repairs, I’ll tell you if I believe replacement of the appliance would make better financial sense.

Failed elements, switches, sensors, regulators and electronic components can cause individual zones to fail.
Temperature regulation faults can cause a cooking zone to remain on maximum heat rather than cycling normally.
Touch panels, control boards and associated electronic components can cause intermittent or unresponsive controls.
Electrical component failure, damaged wiring or insulation faults can cause the hob to trip the electrical supply.
Induction hobs can display fault codes following sensor, control or power-module problems.
Power modules, control electronics and other components can cause one or more induction zones to stop working.
Induction Hob Repairs
Induction hobs use more complex electronics than traditional electric hobs. Depending on the model, a fault can involve power modules, control boards, sensors or associated components.
Some induction parts can be expensive, so I take the age and condition of the hob and the likely parts cost into account before recommending that you spend money repairing it.
